WHISTLE-blowers
ancient and modern will put on their best bib and tucker when the
Tygerberg Football Association's referees' committee celebrate 100
years in the middle, writes JOSEPH PILLAY.
A minimum of guests and a maximum of exciting guest speakers
would be on offer at a dinner at the Old Mutual Assembly Hall,
Pinelands on Wednesday evening.
Eric Dalton, chairman of the Cape Town Tygerberg FA, said the
history of refereeing in the area had been compiled after exhaustive
research and a book will be released at the dinner.
Dalton confirmed that a forerunner of his committee began
organised refereeing in Cape Town, in July 1989.
Refereeing memorabilia will be displayed and anyone with
interesting relics they would like shown is invited to immediately
contact the association's secretary, Neil Townsend at 532
